The route: tunnel, coast and the run west
From Podgorica the fast line heads south toward the sea, and the Sozina tunnel does the heavy lifting, punching straight through the mountains and saving you the long climb over the old pass. Once you emerge near the coast you swing northwest, tracing the shoreline past Budva and around the Bay of Kotor before the road lifts you toward the frontier. The Bay of Kotor is the obvious pause, with the old walled town tucked under the mountains and Perast and its two islets just up the water.
