About Podgorica Car Rental

Local, capital-based, and built around the day trips Podgorica is best placed for

Who we are

Podgorica Car Rental is a booking partner for vetted car rental operators across Montenegro, based in the capital. We're not a global brand or a franchised desk at the airport, we're a small local team who match you with vetted local operators and keep the booking details straight, so what you agreed online is what you get at the handover.

The operators we work with are small and mid-sized Montenegrin companies with clean fleets, full insurance, and enough cars to keep availability high in peak season. We do the legwork of comparing them so you don't have to.

Why Podgorica as a base

Podgorica is Montenegro's capital and the country's main transport hub, most international flights to Montenegro land at Podgorica Airport. It's also the best base for exploring the mountain interior: everything north and east is closer from here than from anywhere else in the country.

From here, Ostrog Monastery is an hour. Lake Skadar is thirty minutes. The Morača Canyon begins at the city's edge. Biogradska Gora, the Tara Canyon, and the Prokletije mountains are all a short drive away. Our blog covers each as a self-drive route.

What you get with a booking

Every rental through us includes third-party liability cover, VAT and unlimited mileage on most categories. Collision cover (CDW) starts at the paid Basic tier, and the no-excess, no-deposit option is Full Coverage Plus; both are chosen during booking. A cross-border permit is a paid add-on, so tell us at booking if you plan to drive in Albania, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia or Kosovo. Winter equipment and roadside terms are set by the supplier and shown on the car's listing.

Pickup and drop-off

We meet every arriving flight at Podgorica Airport (TGD), including late-night arrivals with no surcharge. City-centre pickups are available at your hotel. Drop-offs at a different point in Bar, Ulcinj, Herceg Novi or along the coast are supported, a small relocation fee applies depending on distance.

Pricing

We publish the price you pay. There are no airport surcharges added at the counter, no fuel-tier upsells, no seasonal scaling of mandatory extras. The invoice at drop-off matches the booking confirmation you get in your inbox.

Contact us

For bookings, questions or anything odd, our contact page has the form and email. We aim to reply within two hours during business hours and the next morning for overnight enquiries.

Podgorica Car Rental FAQ

Short answers on who is behind the site and what happens after you book.

The cars come from local rental companies operating in Montenegro; we list their vehicles and handle the booking side. When you arrive, you deal with the supplier for the handover, the paperwork and the return. Which company you are booking with is shown before you confirm, along with the pickup arrangements for that car.

Most cars can be booked without a credit card. Every car in the pool can be paid for in cash, and around four fifths also take card payment. The deposit at pickup is a separate matter and is most commonly taken in cash, with fewer cars accepting a credit or debit card for it, so check the listing you are looking at.

You enter dates and a pickup point, compare what is available and confirm the car you want. Many cars are instant booking and are confirmed straight away; the rest go through on request and are processed automatically within a few minutes. Either way you get a confirmation with the supplier's details and the pickup instructions.

The model shown is guaranteed on every car listed, so there is no "or similar" category shuffle at the counter. Real photographs of the specific vehicle appear on the large majority of listings rather than manufacturer stock images. Vehicles date from 2006 onwards, and the year of each one is stated on its listing.

The default free tier is Minimum, which is third-party liability only; it does not cover collision damage or glass. Collision cover (CDW) begins at the paid Basic tier and is chosen during booking, not added automatically. The upper tiers differ in what they cover and only the top Full Plus tier removes the deposit hold, so read the tier description before choosing.

The suppliers are Montenegrin, so the cars are already in the country and the terms are written for local driving, including the cross-border add-on. Almost every car has unlimited mileage, a second driver can usually be added free of charge, and delivery within the city is offered on most of the fleet for a fee. It suits people who want a specific car and clear terms more than a global loyalty scheme.
