One-Way Car Rental from Podgorica

Pick up in the capital and drop off at the coast, the airport or another Montenegrin city, without doubling back

One-way rental, explained

A one-way rental means you collect the car in one place and return it in another, instead of bringing it back to where you started. From Podgorica it is the natural choice when you land at the airport, spend time in the interior, then finish on the coast rather than driving all the way back to the capital.

We support one-way rentals between cities across Montenegro. The pickup can be Podgorica city or Podgorica Airport, and the drop-off can be any of the coastal and airport points below.

How the one-way fee works

Because the car has to find its way back to its home fleet, most one-way trips carry a fee. It is set by the distance between the two points and the locations themselves, so a drop at Tivat Airport is cheaper than one at the southern end of the coast. Some short, popular combinations carry no fee. Whatever applies is shown at checkout before you pay, never added afterwards.

Popular one-way routes from Podgorica

The combinations Podgorica renters use most:

  • Podgorica to Tivat Airport, for visitors flying out of TIV after time inland.
  • Podgorica to Budva or Kotor, ending a trip on the Bay of Kotor or the riviera.
  • Podgorica to Bar or Ulcinj, for the southern coast and the beaches near the Albanian border.
  • Podgorica Airport to the coast, skipping the capital entirely on arrival.

The interior day trips most people combine with these, Ostrog, Lake Skadar and Cetinje, all sit between Podgorica and the coast, so they slot neatly into a one-way run south.

Where you can pick up and drop off

The one-way network covers the capital, the airport and the main coastal cities:

  • Podgorica, city-centre and hotel pickup.
  • Podgorica Airport (TGD), met at the terminal.
  • Tivat and Tivat Airport (TIV).
  • Kotor, Budva and Herceg Novi on the bay and riviera.
  • Bar and Ulcinj on the southern coast.

What one-way rental does not cover

One-way rentals stay inside Montenegro. Ending the rental in another country is not supported, so a drop-off in Croatia, Albania or Serbia is not offered.

That does not stop you driving abroad. You can cross a border and return on the same rental as long as the car comes back to a Montenegrin location; the paperwork for that is covered in our cross-border guide.

Booking a one-way rental

Enter your pickup point and a different drop-off when you search, choose your dates, and the results show only the cars available for that combination along with any one-way fee. Pick up in Podgorica, finish where your trip actually ends, and skip the drive back.

One-way car rental FAQ

Common questions about one-way rentals from Podgorica: where you can drop off, how the fee works, and whether you can end the rental abroad.

Yes. One-way rentals let you collect the car in Podgorica or at Podgorica Airport and return it in another Montenegrin city, such as Tivat, Budva, Kotor, Bar or Ulcinj. Enter your pickup and drop-off points when you search and the available cars and any fee are shown before you pay.

Most trips carry a one-way fee that covers returning the car to its home fleet. It depends on the distance and the two locations, so a short hop to Tivat Airport costs less than a drop at the far south coast. The exact figure is shown at checkout, and some short combinations carry no fee at all.

Tivat Airport drop-off is supported as a one-way within Montenegro. Dubrovnik is in Croatia, so ending the rental there is not offered; you can drive across the border and back on the same booking, but the car is returned inside Montenegro.

No. One-way rentals that finish outside Montenegro are not supported. If your plan involves Albania, Serbia or Croatia, keep the drop-off inside the country and see our cross-border guide for driving across and back on the same rental.
